Facts:
- M.C. Escher is a graphic artist, and is best known for his mathematical and precise woodcuts, lithographs, and mezzotints.
- Although he was an artist during World War II, Escher had no interest in politics, and moved to Switzerland during part the war.
- Escher's better known works were mainly created during the 1940's while he lived in Baarn, Netherlands.
- M.C. Escher was Knighted by the Order of Orange Nassau in 1955
- He is well known for his tessellation works (the process of filling a space with tiles with no gaps or overlaps.) He started creating them around 1938 when he lived in Belgium, and then Switzerland.
